Gaza: A Conversation with Marten Youssef

Over the past ten days we’ve all been simultaneously horrified and rivetted to the news coming from the Middle East following the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.

For that reason, I’d like to invite you to join me on Wednesday afternoon for a 45-minute Zoom conversation with a good friend of Peterson Capital, Marten Youssef, who will provide expert insight and analysis as well as informed opinion on what’s happening in Gaza and Israel and the Middle East.

This call will take place this Wednesday, October 18th from 2:30 pm Mountain to 3:15 pm Mountain . Guests will be put on mute, but you can forward questions and comments to me during the call if you’d like via the chat function on Zoom. The call will not be recorded.

Here are three things I think You Should Know about Marten and why I’m so looking forward to my conversation with him:

  1. Marten was born in Egypt and spent much of his career working as a journalist across the Middle East and later with the United Nations. He has lived and traveled extensively in the Arab world, including in Israel and Palestine.

  2. He led the public affairs team for the United Nations Special Tribunal for Lebanon—the first international court prosecuting acts of terrorism. At the height of Arab Spring Marten was thrust on the main stage of the geopolitics in the Arab world.

  3. Marten holds a master’s of business administration from Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, a BA in political science and government from Trinity Western University, and a graduate certificate in journalism from Langara College. He is currently the Associate Vice President of University Relations at UBC Okanagan. Marten has provided ongoing guidance and input into the Peterson Capital communications strategy – including the idea behind this YSK weekly format.

A number of our mining clients will be attending these shows, and we’re busy booking additional European meetings for them around these conferences. If you’d like more information and see if we can help you or a company you know take advantage of being in London and Zurich in November, please reach out and let me know.

I hope you can join me on Wednesday afternoon for what promises to be a fascinating conversation.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.
